Lake Ashton Republican Club meeting 3:30 Wednesday, April 22 will feature Kate Wallace, Polk County School Board member, District 3. She was appointed by Gov. Ron DeSantis in Nov 2025 to fill a vacant seat due to her outstanding qualifications and deep experience in education.
Kate played a vital role in Gov. Jeb Bush’s Foundation for Excellence in Education (ExcelinEd), where she directed student-centered statewide K-12 education reform policies in multiple southeastern states primarily in the areas of school choice, early literacy, and accelerated college readiness.
At Lakeland Leads, a non-profit of which she was a founding executive director, Kate focused on increasing access to a high-quality education for students and families, which resulted in attracting a world class charter school (IDEA Lakeland) which now serves more than 700 first generation college-bound students.
Kate was born and raised in Bartow, and has attended Polk County schools all her life. Kate Wallace will share recent Polk County School Board accomplishments, and where she believes future emphasis should be made.
Visitors are welcome. Gathering/socializing in the Clubhouse Ballroom begins at 3:30 PM, and the meeting starts at 4:00.
